The Aurum Gold Claim in Tankavaara welcomes visitors to experience guided gold prospecting at a genuine gold claim. It is located approximately 500 metres from the services of Tankavaara Gold Village.
During the World Gold Panning Championships competitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at gold prospecting at Aurum Gold Claim at a special World Championships offer price on four different days:
Wednesday 28 July, 10:00–18:00
Thursday 29 July, 10:00–18:00
Sunday 1 August, 10:00–18:00
Monday 2 August, 10:00–18:00
The day starts at 10:00 AM at Restaurant Wanha Waskoolimies in Tankavaara, where you will meet your guide and walk together to the gold claim. The guide will show you how to use the equipment and introduce you to the site.
You will work independently throughout the day, but your guide will be nearby if you need help or would like some tips. And of course, you get to keep all the gold and gemstones you find as a souvenir of your day!

In your message, please let us know which date you would like to book, whether you are booking a sluice box spot or a gold panning spot, and how many people will be attending. Places for the gold prospecting days are limited.
A Day of Gold Prospecting – 162 € per day (normally 180 €)
The day includes:
- 1–4 people (additional participants +10 € per person)
- Your own designated sluicing spot
- All necessary equipment
Prospecting with a gold pan – 45 € per person
The day includes:
- Guidance and instruction
- A shovel and a gold pan
